University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS), the first IT-based private University in Bangladesh was founded on 7 August 2003 as a non-profit organization. INFORMATION SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION LTD. (ISTS), a concern of PHP group headed by Alhaj Sufi Mohamed Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury is the sponsor of UITS. The guiding spirit behind the endeavor is "divine blessings, mixed with hard work, backed by good intentions, make miracles."

CSE & IT Festival

A two day long "CSE & IT Festival'12" organized by Department of CSE & IT was held in University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) at its Main Campus on 12 and 13 April. Festival included Programming Contest, Gaming Contest, Software Competition, Seminar and Workshop. Prizes and Certificates were given to winners of different events on 13 April in 'Prize Giving Ceremony'. Professor Dr. Mohammad Kaykobad, Dept. of CSE, BUET was the Chief Guest, Mr. Mustafa Jabbar, Director of Bangladesh Computer Samity and Professor Dr. Syed Akter Hossain, Chief Consultant of World Soft Ltd were the Special Guest. Professor Dr. K M Saiful Islam Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor of UITS expressed his special gratitude to Mr. Muhammad Golam Kibria, Head of CSE & IT Department for organizing such big Festival for the first time ever. Mr. Kibria thanked to all students of CSE & IT Dept. for participating in the Festival.


CE Seminar

On May 09, 2012, the department of Civil Engineering of UITS has arranged a seminar on “Modern Mapping Technique and Disaster Management”. The keynote speaker of this seminar was Dr. Masahiko Nagai, who has been working at Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand as an Associate Director of Geoinformatics Centre. He is also a Visiting Professor of Civil Engineering Dept of UITS. The chairperson of this seminar was Professor Dr. Maksud Kamal, who is a faculty of the department of Geology at Dhaka University and Adviser of our CE department.The speakers have discussed about how the modern mapping technique has complemented current disaster management system as well as about the current tools & practices in disaster management in Bangladesh.

Academic Year

An academic year is divided into three full terms, namely, Fall, Spring and Summer, of thirteen weeks each. Under this trimester system, a one-credit unit theory course meets 13 hours (60 minutes each for 13 weeks). All courses required in a four academic year-course of two semesters each may be finished in three years in a trimester system.
